Bayh rather not follow father

Today’s announcement that 2-term Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) will bypass a reelection bid gives the GOP another excellent pickup opportunity.  According to our latest analysis, the Bayh seat has gone from LEAN DEM HOLD TO GOP PICKUP.
Readers might recall that the senator’s father, Birch Bayh was defeated in 1980 in his own reelection bid to the same Senate seat by Dan Quayle who served in the U.S. Senate until becoming vice president in 1988.

History is calling Obama

President Obama’s approval ratings are slightly better than his predecessor’s when President Bush was in his eighth year of office.  In fact, the president’s poll numbers have fallen quicker than any other leader on record, and yes that includes those of Jimmy Carter.  It seems that one year of higher-than-expected unemployment, an economy stuck in the slow position, at best, and increasingly frustration about how the second-year president is handling more-or-less everything on his plate, make Obama look like a …

Three more Democratic seats in trouble

Although our current projection continues to show that the Democrats will retain control of the U.S. Senate (52-48), we have now downgraded their chances in the following three states:
Connecticut (D-Dodd, retiring)
Washington (D-Murray)
Wisconsin (D-Feingold)
Each race has moved from DEM HOLD to LEAN DEM HOLD.

GOP to Obama: See you in ‘11

Rather than fall into the trap that President Obama has set for them, the GOP should simply tell the president to drop dead and to see them in January.
There is absolutely no reason for the Republicans to deal with President Obama right now on health care or the like.  With large Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress, it is more than apparent that the failures of the past year fall front and center on the president and his party.
