The State: October 13, 2008

Is it over?

With three weeks to go in any general election, one only needs to look at where the candidates are campaigning to see who’s winning the race.  Today, the Democratic nominees are in Ohio (Obama) and New Hampshire (Biden).  The GOP ticket, on the other hand, is campaigning in Virginia and North Carolina (McCain and Palin).

North Carolina last voted for the Democrats in 1976, while Virginia turned blue for the last time in 1964.

Ohio, meanwhile has gone with the winner in each election since 1944, regardless of party, except for in 1960 when it chose Nixon over Kennedy.

Despite a slight tightening of the national polls in recent days, short of a major Obama snafu at this week’s final presidential debaste, the trend remains Democrat.

Stay tuned.
