Warming Up

Stocks down…again.  They are falling again, down 500+ points.

Tonight, John McCain must go for the throat, throw a hail-mary pass and highlight Obama’s lack of experience and plain-spoken and real terms.  And, he must turn the word ‘change.’ to his advantage.  I also think that when Obama ties McCain to Bush again, a simple Reagan-like “there you go again” shot back would be nice.  natasha08

McCain Camp: Barry is a liar:

GOPNation Average, Obama 49.8, McCain 43.2, 6.6 Obama lead.  McCain has gained 1.9 points since yesterday.  Just to be clear, that even without our addition of the new Reuters/Zogby tracking poll into our survey, McCain also gained, albeit by a smaller 1.0.

Michelle Malkin took a lot of time to post information on the forbidden SNL skit that we actually posted here yesterday afternoon.  Apparently, for whatever reason, NBC has taken down the post, but Michelle has a copy. So do we, via YouTube.com while it is there.

Interesting Polls:  Reuters/Zogby has begun their own tracking poll this morning, and as such, we’ve now included it in our polling averaging, as of today.  This shows Obama only leading McCain, 48-45.  In addition, the soon-to-be released Diageo/Hotline poll shows the race tightening to 46-44 Obama, which was 47-41 yesterday.  As John Zogby stated when releasing his poll:

“Obama is leading among the key target groups, but this race is nowhere close to over,” pollster John Zogby said. “The deal is far from closed.”

How interesting.

At this point, we need to hope that the Dems don’t get 60 Senate seats.  This might be the only place where Conservatives could hold their own and actually be able to stop liberal legislation. Right now, we see a 58-42 Senate, assuming that Joe Lieberman still caucuses with the Dems.

I’m 37 years old, and I have never seen the GOP look so bad, four weeks out from an election, save for 1992.  I fear that this election is going to be a significant turning point on how Washington works, and more importantly, what Americans expect from their leaders.  Obama and a solid Democratic Congress will create a near-socialist state where the individual is replaced by the state as the central decider of key issues that affect every American.  A large majority of our citizenry will expect the state to ‘take care of them’ and the liberals in Washington will spend and spend some more trying to do just that, while giving themselves more and more power.  It isn’t a good day today in America, and I fear that the days and years ahead are going to make today seem like a picnic.  gopnation

Add Missouri to Obama’s column.  The Show-Me state leaves the GOP, leaving Indiana as the only remaining ‘battleground’ state left in the GOP column in our latest Battleground poll.  As of this morning, Barack Obama leads 364-174, with just four weeks to go in the campaign.

Tonight’s debate is likely the last chance that John McCain will have to convince the American people that he is the right choice for president.  Since starting his unlikely campaign in 2007, the Arizona Senator has been down before.  Can he get off the mat once again?
