The State: October 6, 2008

Sarah’s the ticket
Most readers of my posts know that I am in the bag for Barack Obama.  In fact, rumor has it that my name is on the short-list of possible Obama press spokesman come the President-elect’s Senator’s move to the White House in January.

Hogwash.

Despite my dire concerns about the coming election, be rest assured that this GOPer is red-and-white through and through and hope and pray that the remaining weeks show a McCain/Palin resurgence worthy of the record books.

Sarah Palin’s visit to Florida today for two rallies is a good start.  The Sunshine state was all-McCain for much of the year, and it has only been recently that the Obama campaign has pulled ahead.  A Florida GOP victory is essential for Team McCain to pull the upset.  Expect Palin to continue to press the Obama-Ayers connection today and hopefully, the press will start to (finally) make hay of this as well, at least to some degree.  It would be very helpful, however, if our party’s presidential candidate, John McCain would do the same and go for Obama’s throat, just like Palin has done in recent public appearances.

Smokin’ Crack
Fox & Friends (video unable at press time) this morning had a rather lengthy piece devoted to the 269 Electoral vote scenario, which we at GOPNation.com discussed here and here, both times in September.   While anything is still possible in this ever-changing election cycle, the likelihood of a 269-269 vote tie is increasingly remote, at best.  Getting to 269-269 would require Obama to crater and do so in such a way that presents us with a tied scenario, which doesn’t look feasible.  To paraphrase my friend, Jennifer: anyone that still thinks the electoral vote count will be tied is ’smokin’ crack.’

Team Sarah
And finally, as I posted earlier today, I’d like to bring your attention to Team Sarah, an independent site that sprung up recently and looks to be growing in its ranks on a daily basis.  Go here for your daily Sarah Palin fix!!  I have a feeling that this site will be around for a while, no matter the result of November’s election.
