Thirty Days to Go: All Obama

Oct 5th, 2008 | By gopnation | Category: Breaking News, General Postings

Our latest Battleground poll shows that Barack Obama has solidly taken control of states that total 264 electoral votes, just six shy of the all-important 270 votes needed to win the presidential election.  John McCain, on the other hand has only secured 163 votes.  Eight states that total 111 electoral votes are all that’s left that we consider ‘battleground’ states this cycle.  Of those, Obama is ahead in six of those states that total 89 votes, versus just 2 for John McCain, worth 22 votes. In the past week, Minnesota (10), Michigan (17), Pennsylvania (21) and New Hampshire (4) have all fallen off of our Battleground list, with all four going to the Democrats.

The Battlegrounds

  1. The scary part is that McCain could actually sweep these eight states, since they are all ‘red’ states from 2004. Sweeping these would give him a 274-264 victory, although I am not quite sure any betting man would go with that. I would feel more hopeful if there was at least one blue state (PA, MI, WI) that was still at least flirting with McCain, and that doesn’t appear to be the case. The remaining turf is red and that isn’t good heading into the final four weeks.
