Who’s going to see it this weekend? ttally

House Passes bailout. Hopefully, this will now come off the front pages. gopnation

This is very good news: The vice presidential debate was the largest rated debate since 1992.  According to preliminary Nielsen numbers, the Palin-Biden bout was rated 42 percent higher than Friday’s presidential debate and 60 percent higher than the Dick Cheney-John Edwards bout in 2004.  With most calling this debate a tie, or slight Palin win, this is great news for Team McCain.  gopnation

Latest Gallup: Obama +7, GOPNation Average shows Obama 50, McCain 42Nearing Largest Obama lead recorded.

Natasha, you deserve the criticism.  True Republicans will go down swinging and despite what looks like a Democratic victory, we need to remember that the election isn’t until November 4.  So as a true Republican, stop these negative posts and instead do something about it.  ttally

I’ve posted my latest column on FreeRepublic and man, they hate what this chick has to say. natasha08

On an entirely different note, my beloved Nittany Lions are hoping to go 6-0 for the year when they travel to Purdue tomorrow.  Go State!!! (plug for PSUFootball.com) natasha08

McCain Ahead in Minnesota? Not sure what to believe with the latest SurveyUSA numbers, showing McCain ahead 47-46 here.  Minnesota isn’t even on our battleground list and the state hasn’t gone red since God-knows when (1972).  Consider this a blip unless we see more. gopnation

Standing Tall: Barack Obama remains ahead by +7 in the latest Rasmussen poll.

On Drudge right now:

I think that it is really important at this stage.  If the number is huge, it could prove that there is still enough time to move this race, i.e. they watched because they aren’t 100 percent sure that Obama is actually THE ONE.  Still, they could have watched to see if Palin made a mistake too. ttally

From Peggy Noonan:

Sarah Palin saved John McCain again Thursday night. She is the political equivalent of cardiac paddles: Clear! Zap! We’ve got a beat! She will re-electrify the base. More than that, an hour and a half of talking to America will take her to a new level of stardom. Watch her crowds this weekend. She’s about to get jumpers, the old political name for people who are so excited to see you they start to jump.

Very interesting… Check out JohnMcCain.com.  Front and center, a video welcoming you to the site by…Sarah Palin. They know who won the debate!  Also, check out their special VP central. Win or lose, she is a rock star. gopnation

The most important thing that Sarah did last night was resurrect her political fortunes, if not for ‘08, at least for in the future.  She is a bright star that shines brightly over the GOP.  Whether or not the McCain/Palin ticket wins this year, her performance last night proves that she won’t go away and she could seek higher office again, if she so chooses.  I, however, apologize for being the negative one here as usual, by saying the following: I don’t think that last night really mattered.  I think that opinion polls have shown over the course of the past 10 days a crystallization that shows Barack Obama 7-10 points above his GOP counterpart.  Further more, I don’t think that short of an Obama gaff or something unexpected (October surprise?) will change this dynamic in a way that sees John McCain winning the White House.  There I said it - Obama is going to win.  natasha08

From the McCain camp: Joe Biden’s 14 lies

State polls matter most.  The erosion of the past few weeks in the state polls are clearly centered on the McCain/Palin loss of NC, FL and OH.  Watch for movement in polls from these three states for signs if this can become a closer race. If you look at our Battleground poll, which shows Obama leading 353-185 and switch those three states back to McCain, it narrows significantly to 291-247, still a Obama lead but closer, for sure.  natasha08

Forget the snap polls.  We will hear a lot about so-called snap-polls in the next few hours put out by the main streamers to tell us who won last night’s debate.  Increasingly, however, the only polls that matter are those based on rolling daily averages, and those from the states.  It will be until at least Monday until we see movement, if any, in the national polls, and mid-week before state polls could adjust.   We need to be very careful not to expect Sarah Palin’s better-than-average performance last night to suddenly put the McCain camp within spitting distance of Obama.  However, she could give McCain enough opening to make true headway on Tuesday, when the second presidential debate will commence. ttally
